Natural Pain Relief

Dry Needling Explained

Superficial dry needling, also known as trigger point dry needling and intramuscular stimulation, is a safe and effective technique used by various healthcare practitioners, including physical therapists, physicians, and chiropractors, among others.

Myofascial trigger points, also known as trigger points, are described as hyperirritable sensitive knots in the skeletal muscle. They are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibers. Dr. Williams uses small solid monofilament needles inserted into the muscle or muscles to release these taut bands and decrease the trigger point activity, reducing pain and promoting healing.

Acupuncture vs Dry Needling

Dry needling and acupuncture are often confused. Yet, acupuncture is a traditional procedure originating from Chinese medicine and based on creating balance within the entire body. Dry needling targets pain relief in specific areas of the body, instead of the body as a whole.

Is Dry Needling Right for You?

Most musculoskeletal conditions respond very well to dry needling since it is used to treat dysfunctional soft tissue and restore or improve muscle function. The great news is that dry needling can be a great addition to your chiropractic treatment.
